TradeTek froze on the screen. How do I close the window?

It is possible that TradeTek got an exception and is unresponsive to keyboard or mouse clicks.
If so, use Task Manager to end TradeTek or reboot your computer.

Perhaps TradeTek is frozen because a cloud storage service or other application is blocking
TradeTek until a dialog is confirmed (which might be behind the TradeTek window).

TradeTek won't launch when I click on the icon.

If you have a Virus Scanner (including 3rd party software such as Norton 360 or McAfee) or
Windows Defender active, you must add TradeTek to the trusted list (add an exclusion).

After you add TradeTek to the exclusion list, its recommended to uninstall and reinstall
TradeTek and then restart your computer.

A Virus Scanner can block software from running or even delete critical files.
See this Q/A Database for more details on adding TradeTek to exclusion list.

If TradeTek was running fine but now won’t start, try this:

1. Reboot your computer and try again.

2. Uninstall TradeTek from control panel, download and install it again.

3. On launch, TradeTek reads data from the Preferences folder. Corrupted files could be the cause.
If the Preference folder is deleted, empty default preferences are generated on first TradeTek launch.

How can I access Help and Demonstration videos for TradeTek?

From the Help panel in TradeTek, click the Training Videos button. Choose category then click video name.
By default, videos play within the TradeTek Help panel using browser software built into your OS or TradeTek.

Alternatively, choose Preferences from File menu and set Play Videos in Default Web Browser checkbox.
With this checkbox set, videos will play within your preferred Edge, Chrome, Firefox or Safari browser.

Most videos can be played from the TradeTek Software website.
Click the Help Videos link at the bottom of the Home page, select a Category and click to play a video.

The built-in video player uses Chromium on Windows 11 or WebKit on macOS (built into OS).
Chromium (files included in TradeTek folder) is open source software on which the Google Chrome browser is based.
This browser software is enabled by default in a standard Windows install. If not, contact your IT administrator.
When installing TradeTek, make sure it gets added to the trusted list of Virus Scanner or Firewall software.

TradeTek quit without shutting down properly (i.e. power outage), did my work save?

When you launch TradeTek, the program is designed to work in RAM and not save to the hard
drive until you manually save periodically by clicking the Save button from the File
drop-down menu or by setting your Preferences checkbox to "Auto-Save Every 5 Minutes".

The save settings are personal preference, some users prefer to save manually while working,
while others prefer the auto-save mode. TradeTek also saves your work when you normally
close out the program.

NOTE: If your job(s) is being stored in the local folder, it is good practice to also save
a copy of your local files just in case your computer hard drive fails.
