How are image files used in TradeTek and where are they stored?

The two main image types are Property Images and Pattern Images. A user can Add, Edit and Delete these images.
From the Set Default Properties tab of the the Template panel, click the Property Images or Pattern Images button.
Property images are used when setting up Template Assemblies, Presets or assigned to a property during takeoff.
Pattern images are used to add markup images to a drawing or used like paint for Area and other markup types.

Images are stored in various places, but those details are only of interest to a developer or advanced TradeTek user.
Some images are stored in the TradeTek preferences folder and others in each job folder for takeoffs and markups.

1. Property Images folder in Preferences - This folder of images is publicly visible and maintained by the user.
A List in TradeTek can have an Image column that references a file name from the Property Images folder.

2. Images folder in Preferences - This folder of images is internally managed by TradeTek and contains images
referenced by a Template Assembly, Preset or Report. When a user is configuring these items, they select images
from the public Property Images folder, but TradeTek copies that image to this hidden folder in case the user later
deletes or renames the original image files.

3. Patterns folder in Preferences - This folder of images is publicly visible and maintained by the user.
During installation, default images are copied into this folder, but the user can later add, delete or change them.

4. Images folder in Job - When drawing Takeoffs or Markups in a job, required images are copied into an Images
folder within the Job folder. This allows a job to be shared with TradeTek users that have different preferences.

OneDrive relocated my Documents folder and now TradeTek and other Apps do not work.

After a Windows update, OneDrive may turn on without your knowledge, relocate your files and
cause lots of problems for TradeTek or other applications that you use. For example, TradeTek
assumes Jobs stored in Local storage are at this location on a Windows computer. By default,
each Job is typically stored in Local storage. In the Documents folder, you will find a TradeTek
folder that holds your jobs.

c:\Users\YourAccount\Documents

Use this process to turn off OneDrive on Windows 10/11.

- Select the OneDrive cloud in your notification area to show the OneDrive pop-up.
- Select the OneDrive Help and Settings icon then select Settings.
- Go to the Account tab.
- Select Unlink this PC.

Where is Local storage for jobs and can it be changed?

By default, each job is stored in a TradeTek folder in the Documents folder of the current user account.
Here is the typical location for Mac or Windows:

Mac - /Users/AccountName/Documents\TradeTek
Win - c:\Users\AccountName\Documents\TradeTek

To change the Local storage location for jobs, present the Job Storage dialog and click Change Local Storage.
