I don't see a property name from the Formula Editor drop-down menu?

Properties must first be added to either an assemblies located in the Templates tab or
Set Default Properties in order to be available in the Formula Editor drop-down menu.

How do I add or edit a Set Default Property in TradeTek?

Navigate to the Template tab and the Set Default Property tab.
In this tab you can set and add default properties for all the standard takeoff tools,
markup tools, job property and estimating folder items listed in the tab.

Launch an items dialog by clicking on its icon and make changes to existing properties
or add new properties.

From this point on, the changes will be included each time a new instance of the item
is created.

How do I access properties contained within other items in TradeTek?

Dot notation is used to access properties contained within other items.

To access properties in takeoff tools or assemblies use [Item Name.Property Name].
To access properties in assembly sub-items, use [Sub-Item Tab Name.Property Name].

Properties that have been added to Estimating tab folders can be accessed in nested folders
up to three levels deep.
- To access a property in a folder 1 level up use [Folder.Property Name].
- To access a property in a folder 2 levels up use [FolderUp1.Property Name]
- To access a property in a folder 3 levels up use [FolderUp2.Property Name].

Properties can be added to Estimating tab folders located in the Template tab.

Select the Set Default Property tab and then referenced from assemblies in the Assembly Group tab.
Properties must be added to the folder in the Set Default Property tab before they become available
in the drop-down lists in the formula editors.

What are the Properties / Default Properties in TradeTek?

Takeoff tools, assemblies, assembly sub-items and Estimating tab folders can all include both
default properties (non-user added) and user added properties.

The four available property types are:
- Text
- Number
- Color
- Image

What are Text Properties in TradeTek?

When you add a custom text property to something you will input the name of the property and
will construct the value in the Text field by either entering text, selecting the value of
another existing text property or the combination of both.

To select the value of another existing text property, choose that property from the Select
Property drop-down menu.

Text properties can also be connected to a single column list created in the List tab that
allows you to choose the value from that list.

What are Number Properties in TradeTek?

With number properties you will be providing the property name, quantity value or formula and
the result format.

The available result formats are 0, 0.0, 0.00, 0.000, 0.0000, 0.00000, 0.000000, Feet to Inches,
Inches to Feet, Round Up, Round Down, Feet / Inches, Inches.

The following is a description of how some of the non-obvious format’s work:
- Feet to Inches: Converts the input value from feet to inches.
For example, if the result value is 1 the converted value will be 12.
- Inches to Feet: Converts the input value from inches to feet.
For example, if the result value is 12 the converted value will be 1.
- Round Up: Rounds up the value to the nearest whole number.
- Round Down: Rounds down the value to the nearest whole number.
- Feet / Inches: Displays the value in feet and inches format.
For example, if the result value is 10.125 the converted value will be 10’ 1 ½”.
This format is for display purposes only and cannot be used as an operand in a formula.
- Inches: Displays the value in inches format.
For example, if the result value is 10.125 the converted value will be 121 ½”.

How do I edit a Number Property Quantity Formula in TradeTek?

To edit the Qty Formula in the Edit Number Property dialog click the ellipsis (…) button at
the far right to launch the Formula Editor dialog.

Click on a formula operator button to insert at the cursor location.
To the right of the operator buttons is the operand drop down list with Select Property displayed
that provides all the available number properties within the “family tree”.

Clicking on one of these properties in the list will add it as an operand in the formula at the
cursor location.

Formulas will execute from left to right and anything inside of “()” operators will execute before
continuing to the right. See the User's Guide for an example.

What is a Global Property in TradeTek?

Users can create Global Properties of type, text, or number that can be referenced or displayed
in either a report or in a quantity calculation in a takeoff tool or assembly.

How do I add a new Global Property in TradeTek?

Navigate to the Report tab, click the Global Properties button located in the Report Actions
button group to launch the dialog.

From the Global Properties dialog, select the first available row in the Property Name column.
Add the new property name and then type in the corresponding property value in the Property
Value column. Click OK to close the dialog.

The new Global Property can now be referenced from within a report or calculation formula.

How can I change the value of multiple properties at once?

Use the Fill Property button from the Estimating or Template panel to present the Fill Property dialog.
From the Fill Property dialog, select the name of the Property, enter the desired property value and select
Takeoffs or Assemblies the value should be applied to.

Can an Admin user lock some property values so they are not changed during the takeoff project?

TradeTek 1.3 adds Admin Protection button on the Preferences dialog.
Assign an Admin Password and then set restrictions to import, export and editing features.
When logged in as Admin user, Lock or Unlock any Property value.
TradeTek opens in Standard user mode. Log in as Admin to access restricted features.
After configuring Templates, Lists and Reports, Admin can export Preferences for other users.

How can I find a Takeoff, Assembly, SubItem or Property by Name, Formula or Value?

See the Find button at the top of the Estimating or Template panel.
Use the Find dialog from Estimating panel to search for the Name, Formula or Result text in open job.
Use the Find dialog from Template panel to search for matching items in the Template panel.

How can properties of a Takeoff, Assembly, Sub Item, Job or Folder be locked for viewing only?

Enable Admin Protection from the Preferences dialog.
Now all Number and Text Property dialogs have a Lock/Unlock icon that an Admin user can click to toggle.
Locked properties are view only to a Standard user.

To Lock or Unlock all properties of an Assembly at once, hold down the Shift when when clicking icon.
